Do I have to be certified to scuba dive?
No, you do not have to know how to scuba dive. We offer a pool scuba learning session where you can learn and practice skills that make the ocean dive much more fun, safe & enjoyable. This is an Aqua Zone exclusive. No other dive operator offers a scuba learning session in the safety & comfort of a swimming pool prior to an ocean dive. This is available at our Waikiki location only.
How old do I have to be to scuba dive?
The real answer is 10 yrs. However, we like the age of 12 yrs because of gear size & maturity level. Many 10 year olds are too small to fit our equipment and it may be difficult to find a wet suit that fits and some just are not ready for it.
How do I become certified to scuba dive?
Its easy! click on this link: Learn To Dive to get started. Once you complete the online course work, you will have up to a year to complete the water training. You may go to any PADI Dive center to complete the training. Just make sure you choose the shop you are going to before you begin (follow the prompts)
Do I need to be in good shape to scuba dive?
You will need to fill out a medical release form. Any "Yes" answers and a Doctor must sign the form stating that they find no reason you cannot dive. This form must be completed prior to any dive trip or lesson. To look at the medical release click - Medical Release

Do I need to know how to swim?
You need basic swimming skills. The more comfortable you are in the water, the easier scuba can be. To become certified, there is a 200 yard swim test to perform - any style, no time limit. There is no swim test for a beginner go out on our Sea Turtle Scuba Adventure. We will have you in the pool to learn and practice the skills for safe scuba diving. Both you and the instructor will know if you are able to dive.
Are there sharks?
We hope so! Seeing sharks underwater is one of the most thrilling things to experience. We have never encountered an aggressive shark. Most are resting under ledges or just passing through the area.
Do women have any concerns about diving?
Aside from pregnancy, no. Because physiologists know little about the effects of diving on the fetus, the recommendation is that women avoid diving while pregnant or trying to become pregnant. Menstruation is not normally a concern.
What about seasickness?
No body knows you better than you. If you think you may become sea sick it is alway better to take precaution rather than wait. Its too late to do anything once on the water. Choose a that works best for you. We have had many customers have success with a non-drowsy, chewable type. Read the directions. Many types want to take it several hours before the trip. Sometimes the night before.
